We here in Wisconsin always have high hopes and expectations for our beloved Green Bay Packers. So when they started off 1-2 the Packer faithful began to get a little worried. The media was all abuzz trying to figure out what was wrong with the Packers. And what was Aaron's response to all this? On his weekly radio show he told the Packer fans to "R-E-L-A-X. Relax. We'll be okay."
Aaron must have been reading his Bible!
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." - Matthew 6:31-34
We tend to get caught up in things and give in to questioning thought. We take situations to ridiculously extreme possibilities in our minds. The worst is going to happen! The sky is falling!! What does that say about our faith in the Packers. What does that say about our faith in God?
God will provide exactly what we need. He has proven that time and time again. When the Israelites were trapped at the Red Sea - the water on one side, the Egyptians on the other - they threw up their hands.
"11 Then they said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt? 12 Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, ‘Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness.” - Exodus 14:11-12
And what did Moses say in return?
"13 And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” - Exodus 14:13-14
Basically Moses said, "Relax!"
The Packers went on to win the division that year. God parted the Red Sea and saved his people. What are you worrying about today that God cannot handle? Place your faith and hope in Jesus. Trust in God and be delivered, just like the Israelites.
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?" - Matthew 6:25-26
Relax - Aaron Rogers
