We have a pretty good life in these here "united" states. The vast majority of people have houses, cars, jobs, food on the table, are healthy and have money in the bank. And that's part of the problem. We have no NEED for God if we already have everything we need.
Oh, but when we get sick, then we will cry out for God's help. Maybe. We might go someplace where they have a better medical team and try to get things fixed that way. Sometimes that works. Just as often, it doesn't.
The Book of Genesis contains a story about this. One line in particular pretty much says it all.
"And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever." - Genesis 3:22
How quickly we turn from God. It only took Adam and Eve one chapter! We really have a tremendous need for God but that only comes with knowledge of Him. The real question is do we KNOW God?
People overseas are coming to faith in Christ at a rapid pace. The poor don't have everything they need so they reach out in faith and in hope.
Jesus once said, "The poor you will always have with you." And honestly? I think that's a good thing. Being 'poor' in Spirit, and knowing we ARE poor, gives us the incentive to reach out to God. And THAT is good.
The answer to becoming gods is rather simple. We need an apostrophe. Becoming God's. The 'apostrophe'
is Jesus.
