It's What We Do

"It's what I do that defines me." - Batman

I watched a short clip from the Batman Begins movie the other day. Why? Because of the quote it teased (above). It intrigued me. Why?

It reminded me of another quote I heard in a Casting Crowns video.

"You will know who I am by the things that I do."

And THAT reminded me of a Bible verse. Imagine that.

"Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing." John 14:12

That, of course, was Jesus speaking. And that verse reminded me of yet another verse.

"Faith, without works, is dead." - James 2:17

And another . . .

"God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”" - Romans 2:6

And yet another . . .

“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done." - Revelation 22:12

Maybe it's just me but I think God wants us to actually DO something with our faith in Him, rather than just sit on our butts in church and that's it.

My wife is a perfect example of what God wants us to be doing. She makes meals for those who have lost a loved one, she makes baby care kits for mothers across the globe. Why? God's Holy Spirit has prompted her to do these things.

What will WE be doing today? 🤔

P.S. - Although our "works" define us and who we are in Christ, they DO NOT earn us a ticket to heaven. It is by God's grace ALONE that we are saved. Our works are the EVIDENCE of our salvation. It's all about Him.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God." - Ephesians 2:8
