All

Here's a tough question for you. Would you sell everything you have and give the money to the poor? No? Why not?

"Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell what you own and give the money to the destitute, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come back and follow me.” ²²But when the young man heard this statement he went away sad, because he had many possessions." - Matthew 19:21-22

What does it mean to surrender everything to Jesus? And that's . . . everything. Think about that for a moment. That's your car, your jewelry, your phone, computer, and television set. RV's, 4-wheelers, boats, fishing gear, etc. Keep going. 401k? Packers season tickets? Hey, wait a minute!

Everything! All of it. Then, follow Jesus.

We don't necessarily have to sell everything but, if Jesus asked us to, would we? Are we willing to sacrifice ALL we have to be a disciple of Jesus?

The Christian life SHOULD be one of sacrifice. Placing the best interests of others before thoughts of self. I give you the example of opening doors for others. It's easy just to open a door and walk through it. But look around. Is someone else heading for the same doors you are going to be walking through? Well . . .

I was at our local convenience store this past week. There was a young man next to me at the checkout. His hands were full as he followed me to the door, so I held the door open for him. It was a small thing for me, but a bigfer thing for him. He smiled and said "Thank you."

We don't hear Jesus saying "Thank you" when we do something for Him, or for others with Him in mind. That comes later. 🙂

Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

"Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously." - 2 Corinthians 9:6
