Watering Others

Well, here we go again. I am getting ready to do my morning reading when a song pops into my head - 10,000 Reasons by Matt Redman. Listen to it (link at bottom). What are the first words you hear?

"Bless the Lord, O, my soul. O, my soul. Worship His Holy Name."

Okay, then I opened my Bible to Psalm 101 and begin my reading for the day. 101, 102 . . . Then I arrived at Psalm 103 . . . Guess what?

"Bless the LORD, O my soul; all that is within me, bless His holy name." - Psalm 103:1

Coinky dink? I don't think so. [Does this happen to you? I absolutely love it!]

So, how do I "worship His holy name?" I write stories. But I also take the text I am reading, or the song I am listening to, and apply it to the day I am about to embark on. The answer is also found in the song.

"The sun comes up, it's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes"

So, the answer is to worship and praise God all day long, in whatever we do.

I therefore will sing this song in my head all day long as a reminder to myself.

But there's more to it than that. We are not here to bless ourselves, but to bless others.

Look at the watering can in the picture above. It's sole purpose is to serve and bless others. In so doing it will bless God by its very actions.

"Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered." - Proverbs 11:25

Who will you water today?
