When we drive down the road, for example, we trust that the on-coming traffic will stay on the other side of the centerline. When we come to a traffic light and it turns green we trust that the other traffic would come to a stop. Usually it does but we always look both ways. At least we should.
The slightest thing can engage our insecurity in our relationships too. We begin to doubt and question when our mind begins to wonder to places it shouldn't.
When we are threatened our trust factor goes way down. Seeing a brother or a sister standing there with a water balloon causes trust issues in us all. The economy, our government, our doctors the their prescribed treatment. Where does it end>
Trusting in God should be an easy thing to do. He never lies, His love never fails, His judgements are always just and His was are better than our ways. Yet we can never seem to fully trust Him. I blame Adam and Eve. They trusted in God until the devil cast some doubt into their minds.
"Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” - Genesis 3:1
Eve doubted. She did not trust or obey. We've had trust issues ever since.
Trust is now something that has to be earned. Faith, love and hope all depend on trust. When we do trust it is only after we have verified something with our own eyes. Trust in the Lord!
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." - Proverbs 3:5-6
