Conspiracy!

It doesn't matter what side of the political/religious fence you're on. One side will always disagree with those on the other side. That's just the way it is.

But what happens when one side tries to eliminate the other to advance their own agenda? They want so badly to protect their beliefs and power that they will actually conspire against you.

It sounds like a story right off the evening news doesn't it? And you could easily take it that way. But this story is about Jesus vs. the Pharisees.

After Jesus had raised Lazarus from the dead, something that most would consider amazing, the Pharisees did this:

"Many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary, had seen what Jesus did, and believed in him. But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done. Then the chief priests and the Pharisees called a meeting of the Sanhedrin.

“What are we accomplishing?” they asked. “Here is this man performing many signs. If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our temple and our nation.” - John 11:45-48

I just looked this up, you know, just to make sure.....

"An agreement between two or more people to commit an act prohibited by law."

That is the Merriam-Webster dictionary's definition of 'conspiracy.'

Just as the religious leaders conspired against Jesus, many of our political leaders of today conspire against those they consider to be their rivals.

This happens at all levels of government, from the presidency right down to the local school board.

It's against the law! Yet people still do it. Why?

"There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God." - 2 Timothy 3:1-4

We are living in those 'last days' that Peter was telling Timothy about. We are watching biblical prophecy being fulfilled right before our vety eyes! And yet we simply continue on with our lives as if nothing is happening.

Oh. Our apathy was prophesied too. Just so you know.

Pray.
