- God created all things
- 1,000 years later, God sent a flood on the earth
- 1,000 years later, Abraham
- 2,000 years later, Jesus crucified
- 2,000 years later (right about now), He will return and set up His millennial kingdom. A 1,000-year reign for the King of kings and Lord of lords
A thousand years. TWO thousand years. It seems like God likes to do big things in 'thousands of years.'
"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." - 2 Peter 3:8
[Side note: the above list of events equals 7,000 years. Look up the number 7. What do you find?
"the number seven connotes such concepts as completion and perfection, exoneration and healing, and the fulfillment of promises and oaths."
Seven days to create all things in Genesis. The Seven Churches of Revelation 1, Seven Golden Lampstands, gold refined 7 times (Psalm 12), the seven spirits of God (Revelation 3), etc. "Seven" appears 518 times in the Bible.
I heard a song recently and was reminded of the Lord's millennial reign. A thousand years in the presence of our King! This is from that song (link at bottom):
"Watching you stand alone,
All of my doubt suddenly goes away."
Jesus will stand alone on the Mount of Olives one day soon. And it sounds like there will be a rather large earthquake as well.
"On that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south." - Zechariah 14:4
Have you noticed the increase in seismic activity recently? Venezuela comes to mind, with two quakes in the 7+ range on the same day. Still, a bigger quake looms in Jerusalem. But let's not get sidetracked.
The thousand-year reign of Jesus. What will that be like?
"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” - Revelation 21:1&4
Personally, I can't wait. To actually see Jesus! It will be well worth the wait . . . a thousand years . . . two thousand years . . . none of that will matter. We get to spend ETERNITY with our King!
