I Want You!

"For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect." - Mathew 24:24

Hmm. "Even the elect." Who are "the elect?" Was there an actual election? No. Not in the sense of a politican election.They (we) are those who have been chosen (elected) by God.

Simply put, the “elect of God” are those whom God has predestined to salvation. They are called the “elect” because that word denotes the concept of choosing. - Gotquestions.org

If you believe on God, if you believe in Jesus, His Son, that He died and rose again, and you have received the Holy Spirit, congratulations! You are one of the elect! The Church!

God elected to choose YOU to be one of His children!

"Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God - children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God." - John 1:12-13

That's wonderful news! But there IS a sad aspect to all this. Some people have NOT been chosen. Some people will simply just never come to faith in Christ. And that is indeed sad.

Getting back to the Matthew 24:24 verse, it is a warning, from Jesus, not to be deceived. But the verse is also an encouragement. Things will get bad, but the elect will make it through.

Through what? Struggles? Persecution? The Tribulation?

I think it's just the first two. I believe in a pre-tribulation rapture of God's church - the elect. Why?

"For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ." - 1 Thessalonians 5:9

I don't know about you but, I for one am grateful to be one of the elect. The alternative is not good.
