Critical Grace Theory

There have been lots of stories about Critical Race Theory (CRT) in the news lately. Videos of angry parents pointing fingers and yelling at school board members seem to be playing every night. What's the problem here? And just what is CRT anyway?

Well, the definition is part of the problem. It seems to vary depending on your point of view, or where your source for truth lies. I tried finding out what CRT's TRUE meaning was, but I became so confused that I had to stop. I was losing track of my point for this story.

Whatever definition of CRT you might favor, it's a red herring. The REAL problem with us humans these days is sin. Let's go to the Bible and see if we can find a list of things that God considers "sin". First, what IS sin?

According to Bible.org, "Sin is anything that is contrary to the law or will of God. For example: if you lie, you have sinned. Why? Because God has said not to lie (Ex. 20:16). If you do what God has forbidden, then you have sinned. In addition, if you do not do what God has commanded, you sin (James 4:17). Either way, the result is eternal separation from God (Is. 59:2).

Here's a Bible verse to consider. "For God does not show favoritism." - Romans 2:12

And neither should we.

If indeed there is a "theory" or "practice" that is based on race, it seems to me that it would be against God's will and therefore a sin. It should be abolished. Whether it is in our institutions, our classrooms, or our churches, it is NOT in God's will.

Let's start off by eliminating some of the basics. Black History Month. and National Indigenous People's Day for example. They are based on race. Gone. No? Well, where is National Caucasian Day? I rest my case.

People say this is a systemic problem. It's "in the system." Really? Here's one of the founding documents of our "system."

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness". - Declaration of Independence, 1776

That sounds okay to me.

"There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, 19 a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers." - Proverbs 6:16-19

Hmm, lying makes the list twice. Interesting. So, Hillary Clinton, caught in a lie, has sinned in the eyes of God. And abortion makes the list as well. Is there anything more innocent than a baby?

Our problem these days is not any program or practice. Those are just the result of something bigger that eats away at our society. The very root of the problem. Sin.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. If we did away with the sin, would we still have a problem? What does God say?

"THOU SHALL NOT KILL" - Deuteronomy 6:5

Killing is a sin, bigotry is a sin, homosexuality is a sin, drunkenness is a sin. adultery is a sin, lying is a sin. Som many of the things we do these days are sins in God's eyes. We are rooted in sin. We need a new root system if we are to survive.

So, how can we get a new root system for our lives? Have you ever heard about CGT? Of course not. I just made it up. It's Critical Grace Theory. Only it's more than a theory. It's the truth! Jesus is the answer to whatever sin problem we might have. God's grace is the answer to all of society's problems. If you need some grace in your life, get some. Ask for it. God gives it freely.

Repent, Pray, Obey, Love, Repeat. God will give you grace through His Son, Jesus.
